 Environment

The Environment Group covers most aspects of environmental law, both terrestrial and marine.

The work of the Group covers environmental impact assessment, exploitation of natural resources, nature conservation, pollution, transportation and waste management, for a broad range of human activities. Members are well-versed in established, new and developing EC environmental legislation. Our marine work addresses all waters, both coastal and offshore.

The Group is able to address the full range of contentious work, relating to the environment, including judicial review, statutory nuisance, crime, planning control and enforcement, disputes concerning access to resources and anti-social behaviour orders. We are also happy to deal with non-contentious matters, such as advising on consents regimes, assisting with consultation responses, advising on draft legislation and providing advice on the likely impact of new legislation.

Several members of the Group participate in conferences at a national level and write for peer-reviewed journals and other publications. Our clients are regional, national and international, and include bodies at national and local levels, businesses, non-governmental organisations and private individuals.

Careful consideration is given to fee structures that suit clients' needs and funding arrangements. In view of our commitment to access to justice, we also give consideration to pro bono work in appropriate cases.

Public Access

Several members of the Environment Group can receive, in certain circumstances, Public Access instructions. This is a fast, cost-effective and direct link without the need to instruct other legal professionals. Please refer to our Public Access page.
