| Fenners Chambers Criminal Group brings together a team of specialist criminal counsel, who form the largest provincial group in the area, providing specialist advocacy and advice throughout East Anglia, the East Midlands, London and the Home Counties. We aim to provide a professional and friendly service to all our clients. In addition to providing a service across the broad range of criminal work, members can offer specialisation in many areas, including homicide, complex fraud, serious sexual offences, Customs and Excise and immigration. Mike Magee recently "defended clients in the R -v- Ngamba advance fee fraud conspiracy". Lawrence Bruce is "good with cases involving complex legal and factual arguments - he manages to find defences which on first sight appear to be non-existent". (Legal 500 2009). The Group regularly undertakes in-house and external CPD training. This ensures that all members are fully prepared for the introduction of new legislation and are able to undertake work of a specialist nature. We are conscious of the importance of continuity of counsel to our clients. One of the primary objectives of the Revised Advocacy Graduated Fee Scheme ("RAGFS"), applying to representation orders granted after 30th April 2007, is that there will be continuity of counsel throughout proceedings. This has always been a priority at Fenners Chambers and we hope that the new scheme will allow our service to be enhanced by the objectives of the scheme. Communication is also a key issue and members are keen to ensure that results, action plans and court directions are clearly communicated around court hearings. The Group has specialist knowledge of VHCC cases and the tendering process involved. Members of Chambers are happy to provide advice at an early stage of proceedings, including offering assistance by telephone to professional clients, attending at police stations, or holding conferences pre-committal should you so wish. For further information on our tailor-made services to criminal professional clients, from initial advice through to CPD training, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Criminal Group, or one of the clerks. |
