Fees

Many privately funded clients will be best served by the prior agreement of fees directly with the clerks. Members of Chambers are happy to review and work with the clerks upon receipt of instructions in order to agree fees that are fair and reasonable. We are always willing to take an initial look at papers or briefs without obligation so that a fair fee can be agreed. In many cases, particularly advisory or drafting work, time-costed fees will be in the best interests of the client.

Developments in legal aid funding, graduated fees, conditional fees, Law Society practice standards, the franchising of public authority legal services and the Trading Agreement require innovatory approaches to fees. It is important that access to the legal system should be available to all. With these factors in mind, please feel free to raise any issues at any stage with our clerks.

Michael Dean, our Senior Clerk, has 25 years' experience of managing members of the Bar; "I am keen to ensure that my team listen and respond to the needs of  lay and professional clients. By adopting a flexible approach to fees we can always find a comfortable ground on which to base our fees. Should  at any stage a client feel that a charging structure needs to be reviewed or developed further, I would welcome the opportunity to discuss the matter with them personally".
